    I’m 66 yrs old. I’m 6’5” and weigh 305 lbs. I was a full scholarship D-1 football player. I rebelled against exercise when my playing days were over and gained 70 lbs over the decades. I monitor my bp and heart rate daily. I average 53 bpm.

    Thanks for the great info Doc! I'm 66, training calisthenics (pull-ups, bar dips and ATG goblet squats) for 5+ years consistently. I just heard that fast twitch fibers decline with age unless one does specific training for them. This is a concern for me. What exactly to do to activate them? I have over 500 workouts on my channel. You can see what I do. Thanks for any suggestions!

    For some reason i dont fatigue i never had a sore muscle for more than 2 days i always feel rested after a day even if i get a sore muscle and i train till failure so its very weird that i dont fatigue that much

    Could you elaborate on the difference in mechanism between recruitment for pure force and recruitment for force velocity work? Is there one? Is there an identified, mechanically discreet neuromuscular pathway or mechanism at work in power/force contractions vs raw force contractions? I just want to understand what your basis is for saying that conventional strength training would be fine for a powerlifter but dynamic effort style work is better for a speed/power athlete, because I don't understand there as being much evidence for that claim, the only studies I'm familiar with that compare conventional strength training with dynamic/speed/plyometric training for power show either no statistical significance or better results for conventional strength when measured with CMJ or other standard power measures.

    I started running again after years of being pretty lazy. Now at age 45, My 1 year average resting heart rate is 54. I recently started marathon training and 4 weeks ago I was at 53. Today I am at 51.

    I just went through all kinds of heart tests since my resting heart rate is below 60 and my doctor was worried. I am 63 and don't do any exercises.

    Several important factors on heart rate were left out in this video: Caffeine will usually result in an increase heart rate so measure before caffeine intake. Since many people consume caffeine this is an important thing to mention. Also the patient position plays a factor. What position were the people in were in when their heart rates were taken for the stats that were shown? Laying flat typically results in a noticeably lower heart rate than when sitting or standing. When I was cycling and running frequently and was very fit I had an traumatic accident and was hospitalized. I kept setting off the HR alarms. The nurse printed my EKG of my heart rate of 37 while I was sleeping. My body was under some stress due to a significant injury so I would guess that prior to my accident my HR was probably slightly lower than 37 when sleeping.

    Dr Jill Cook says isometrics are good to do daily (up to 4x daily). If isometrics are not setting you back do you recommend doing them daily rather than every other day for tendonitis?

    Does having someone pointing their hand in your face increase cortisol levels. What about waving their hands in your face over and over. When people watch videos from their phone or tablet a foot from their face and the person they are watching is constantly doing hand gestures, if is like they are doing it right in their face. Would just watching a video raise cortisol levels to unhealthy amounts?

    My problem is I don't which tendon is inflamed. Fucking doctors can't even pin point which one is the problem. The pain is around my right shoulder blade, it hurts only when I am leaning forward when I am sitting, when I walk, or when I hold on o something like the frame of a chair

    I am 79 (80 in 3 months) and my resting heart rate, as measured by Garmin watch, is between 30 and 35, very ofthen just 30. It actually went down as I got older. In my 40ties and fifties it was 40 to 45. s for my lifestyle I run competitively.

    Trying to figure out how my dehydration is effecting my Raynaud's which then eventually trips my vagus nerve- 100 mile run coming up in August. On the treadmill in the AC, I can stay in zone 2 (around 118-125BPM)for 2 hours at a 8min pace. Outside in the heat I'm at 140bpm in a half mile. 52y for reference... great vid!

    Im a 22 year old who smoke daily and use drugs sometimes (xtc) and it’s been a couple nights my heart beats go below 40 around 38-39 and and when i wake up i feel like something woke me up and confused.
